
Dasha Novak was born in Czech Republic, defected from the communist regime at the age of eighteen and obtained her Masters degree in media arts from the Emily Carr University in Vancouver. Dasha has worked as a creative professional in a wide range of positions including an art director, university lecturer, filmmaker and exhibiting artist for the past twenty-five years. Perceiving the world around her through multiple forms of synesthesia, Dasha has always been drawn to multi sensory processes and expressions in art. Her impasto portraits are complex studies of intimate and authentic human experiences.
